I am looking in to geting the I phone. I have a few friends who have them and I like that the voice over is in the phone. For those of you using them how do you use I tunes with your phone? When I got an I pod several years back Jaws and I tunes did not work well together. I always had to get someone sighted to load music and books on and off the I pod and it was frustrating most of the time. I read lots of audio books and would like to do that on my I phone if I could. Any thoughts about your experiences with the I phone would be appreciated thanks so much.
If you look on the boards you can read my post on exactly how to use iTunes.
I don't cover iTunes completely, but pretty close, and I do cover your phone.
Good luck.
I thinnk Jaws and the new Itunes play much more nicely together than they did in the past. I used to hate it as well. I use the Audible app on my phone to download books directly. It's very accessible. Also transfering books from Itunes is easy as well.
For Real is right. He did a great post on Itunes as well.
Also, you might try browsing through the cell phone board because I'll bet there's a crap-ton of info on the Iphone. Applevis.com is another good resource. There is a significant learning curve at first but after a few days or so, you'll be up and running like nobody's business.
All and all, I think you'll be very pleased.
Good luck!
Thanks so much guys. I will defintily check out this board and read everything I can on the phone. I'm really excited about geting one and I catch on pretty quick to new things so after a few days I should get used to it.
applevis is awesome! I'm a lot of times skeptical of so called web sites for accessability but this one is really good!
Do you guys play games, and read books on your I phones? Right now I get books from my library site. Anyone know if I would be able to do that with the phone?
I don't play games. I mainly use Skype and HeyTell which is basically the IPhone version of a Walky Talky. But I've noticed tat apps tend to slow my phone down just a bit (I don't know if it's becase it's just a sixteen-gig model), so I don't have many others on there.
I've read books in iBooks, using either the voice or a Braille display. There is even a way to make it work with the BRF books, generally I convert them to a PDF and email them to my iPhone so I can open them in iBooks and not lose my place in the middle of the book. The one thing you have to remember with Braille on the iPhone is it's different than the PAC Mate or anything else: at best it will remember what page you're on. Not what line you were at. And you need to be using something like iBooks to do it in.
